Field evaluation in a working four-story hotel by an independent Board Certified Entomologist (AAES); published in Pest Control Technology, December 2012. All 11 infested rooms showed dead bed bugs one month after treatment. Later checks found only dead bed bugs (2 of the 11 rooms, 3 of 9 adjacent rooms treated preventively with a companion residual formula), and none at all in the final four months. Can we keep using CrossFire?
Yes. VA88 kills by a different mode of action, which is what a rotation needs. Follow each product's label and your pest professional's plan, and never mix products in the same sprayer.
Do residents need to leave the building?
No. Only the room being treated is out of use. Treated surfaces are dry to the touch in about two hours, and the room can be used again once they are dry.
How much VA88 does our community need?
Plan on about one gallon for every five standard rooms, or up to 2,500 sq ft, per the label. A 100-room community needs about 20 gallons for a full treatment, which qualifies for 15% volume pricing. Use the calculator above for your numbers.
How long does a treatment keep working?
VA88 keeps working on treated surfaces for up to 12 months when used as directed. In a 12-month field study in a working hotel, published in Pest Control Technology, no live bed bugs were found in the treated rooms.
Is VA88 registered with the EPA?
VA88 is a minimum-risk pesticide, exempt from EPA registration under FIFRA Section 25(b). That means it is made only with ingredients on EPA's minimum-risk lists. Exemption is not an EPA endorsement.
